FANS/PM-CPDLC DataLink
Textron Aviation® and Honeywell® are pleased to announce a program for Hawker® 4000 aircraft operators and operators of Citation® Sovereign® aircraft equipped with the Primus Epic® flight management system to upgrade to a fully integrated FANS 1/A+ and Protected Mode Controller Pilot Data Link Communication (PM-CPDLC) solution.
With this upgrade, operators will benefit from datalink capabilities between the crew and air traffic control. CPDLC replaces the traditional and basic voice communications with data and text messaging for many standard operating procedures. This program offers an OEM-certified upgrade to the configuration and maintains the system integrity as originally certified. FANS 1/A+ and PM-CPDLC equipped aircraft can take advantage of the U.S Domestic FANS FAA NextGen Airspace System by utilizing departure clearances (DCL) and initial en route services.

Compliance to FANS 1/A+ is currently required on the North Atlantic Track Minimum Navigation Performance Specification (NAT MNPS) tracks when using flight levels of 290 to 410.
PM-CPDLC (ATN B1) EUROPEAN 2020 MANDATE REQUIREMENTS: In February 2020, the European Commission mandated the installation of Protected Mode Controller Pilot DataLink Communication (PM-CPDLC) on some in-service aircraft. This mandate was the first of several expected compulsory upgrades to the DataLink systems on aircraft. PM-CPDLC equipage still offers improvements when operation in the European airspace.
